August and back to school always gives me a strong desire to add touches of the upcoming season to our home. Today I’m sharing simple and cozy Fall decor ideas to make your home feel warm and inviting for the Fall season. If you’ve missed some of my past ideas, recipes, and Fall favorites, you can find it all HERE!

Many years ago in the month of August we were getting ready to move into a small rental home. It would be the home we would bring all 3 of our babies home to. Before we even had any boxes unpacked, I lit a little Fall candle and our new tiny space started to feel like home. I had such a strong desire in me to make our space feel like the most comforting place we could be. After spending a summer outside, the Fall season seems to call us back inside to gather, enjoy time together, and to create a home that feels like a soft place to land every day.

Another reason I am so excited for Fall is I really love to bake Fall recipes for my family! There is just nothing better than the scent of this delicious cinnamon streusel coffee cake baking. I also love these amazing pumpkin muffin cookies. I adore this recipe for apple cider and Wassail, and we always enjoy this extra comforting steamer that just feels like a hug in a mug!

Candles, little lamps and twinkle light are another must during the start of the Autumn season. If you’re looking for an AMAZING candle for the ‘ber months, THIS CANDLE has been my top favorite for going on 5 years now! Autumn Woods is a mix of all the best scents of Autumn and as always you can use my code HANDMADE20 to get a discount on any of the candles on this site. In case you want to snag one for the holiday season as well, Home for the Holidays is my favorite for November-January!

I recently found these incredible stems (that have already sold out twice before August 1st!) They should hopefully restock soon. I adore the colors so much, they totally inspired me to decorate my home this year in the same color scheme. The amber glass candle holders are from the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby.

Tips for how to make your home cozy for fall:
  • Bring the outdoors in. You can trim a few branches from the yard and place them in a glass vase with a bit of water. Maybe even gather a bowl full of acorns or pine cones to set by it. Instant Fall charm!Find some textured throw blankets and fold them in a pile to set in your living room or by the fireplace.Gather a pile of logs, or firewood and place in a tin or basket. Even if you don’t have a fireplace or don’t need real wood, the texture it adds is really beautiful and cozy!I love to display blanket scarves on my couch, table, hanging in my mudroom or set in baskets or on a bench by the door. Blanket scarves have so many uses and even work for tablecloths!
Switch out pillow covers instead of buying new pillows. I love using the same down filled pillows and switching out covers to match the season. Throw pillows are such a fun way to add a pop of color to a room!

Print and display some of these fun and festive FREE FALL PRINTABLE DECOR. I like to grab a wood clip board from the dollar store or a cheap frame and display these in my kitchen. (Click and print on this post!)

I love decorating this small peg wall in our kitchen throughout the seasons! We keep this basket set hung and add different stems for seasonal decor. I also added these cute kitchen towels, my gran’s old rolling pin, and this cute embroidered floor sack towel. The hats are all thrifted! I love these cute ivy stems, and these beautiful faux hydrangeas (I used these last year in my fall mantel styling).

I use these dainty little brown and white plates for my hutch every Fall season. The pattern and touch of color they add to set the tone for the dining area. These gourds are also a favorite for the kitchen or dining area.
