Servings 8 Large Lollipops

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup Karo light corn syrup
  • 1/2 bottle LorAnn Oils flavor of you choice I like to use a half of a bottle of this flavoring per batch. The size is .125 fl oz.
  • 1-2 drops food coloring (gels work fine, too)

Instructions

  • In a medium pot mix together sugar, Karo corn syrup and water. Whisk together and turn on heat to high. Whisk occasionally. You can use a candy thermometer to determine when the syrup hits hard crack (should be about 300°), or you can simply put some of the syrup into a cup of ice water when it starts to thicken and darken. If the syrup becomes hard enough to crack off the spoon you are good to go! This took me about 11 minutes on a gas stove.
Prepare your lollypop mold by placing sucker sticks about half way into the circle.
When syrup is ready, remove from heat and add about a 1/2 a bottle of flavoring oils. I recommend this over extracts. You can now add 1-2 drops of food coloring if desired.
Allow suckers to cool and set in your silicone mold or on your silicone mat. Remove suckers when set and wrap in cellophane and add ribbon for a special touch. Don't forget your free printable tag to go with it!
