We love to season our shrimp tacos with salt, pepper, and taco seasoning. They’re simple but SO delicious! The fun part is adding all the toppings in. When these flavors all marry together it makes the most delicious combination!

If you have little ones or picky eaters that might be nervous about trying this meal, you can make a few small changes without having to make a separate dinner for them! Here is what’s worked for me over the years until my kids enjoyed the full recipe.
- Try leaving the seasoning off of the shrimp and just pan frying in butter with a little salt. Cut the shrimp into small pieces.
- Leave everything on the plate deconstructed in separate little piles. My kids were willing to try everything separately at first, but didn’t want to eat it all together on as a taco.
- Leave off sauce or any strong seasonings, or salsa. Keep the plate simple for them, cut veggies, shrimp, a tortilla. Then they can explore the flavors in test bites.

How to make Simple Homemade Shrimp Tacos
- Add a little avocado oil or butter to a large fry pan. Cook shrimp and season with salt and taco seasoning (you can be light-handed or generous with this depending on what you like best!)
- Warm tortillas on both sides in a pan or on a griddle.
- Assemble tacos by adding shrimp to a corn tortilla, and topping with cabbage, radishes, onion, salsa, crema, avocado, cilantro, queso cheese, and hot sauce if desired. Add a fresh squeeze of lime juice!
Delicious variations of this recipe
- If desired, you can omit the taco seasoning and simply cook the shrimp in a little butter, seasoned with salt and pepper. Top with mango salsa, radishes, avocado, queso cheese and cilantro.
