Make up a quick batch of rich and creamy crockpot hot cocoa to serve at any gathering! This cocoa is indulgent and perfect for chilly winter days when you just want to feel cozy. It’s truly a hug in a cup!

I love making this crockpot cocoa for youth activities, family parties, winter sledding days or when we go out to look at Christmas lights. It would be so fun to make on Christmas Eve, too! Everyone you share it with will love it.

Ingredient list for rich and creamy crockpot hot cocoa
- 1 can condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 5 cups milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips (I use Ghirardelli)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup dutch cocoa powder

This recipe can be made in the crockpot and kept warm all day, OR it can be made by stovetop if you need it done a bit faster.
I recommend dutch processed cocoa powder for this recipe. It makes the cocoa so rich and gives it an amazing chocolate flavor. I also like to use quality milk chocolate chips for melting in.
Make sure you stir in the cocoa powder before you turn on the heat, you want it to become fully incorporated in the cocoa so it doesn’t clump.
Whether you make it on the stove or in a crockpot, be sure to keep a lid on so it doesn’t form a film on top. Serve fresh right from the pot or crockpot and drink immediately! Top with whipped cream, peppermint, marshmallows or anything else you love!

Cocoa Variations:
I like to serve my cocoa with a little cocoa bar of toppings in bowls or jars. You can easily add a variety of flavors to your cocoa with syrups or extracts, even flavored chocolate (like peppermint or white chocolate) if you want! Here are some ideas for flavors:
- Peppermint
- Orange
- White chocolate
- Salted caramel
- Chili (make it spicy!)
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Spice
- Cookie and cream

Ingredients
- 1 14oz can Condensed Milk
- 1 12oz can Evaporated Milk
- 5 Cups 2% Milk Add whole if you want it to be creamier
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 Cup Dutch processed cocoa powder
- 1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 Teaspoon Salt This is necessary to balance the sweetness and makes it so delish!
- 1 Cup Milk chocolate chips I use Ghirardelli
Instructions
- Whisk all ingredients together either in a large pot on your stove on low heat, ot add it to a crockpot and keep it on low all day! You will love how rich and creamy it is. Add more milk if the chocolate is too rich for you. You can add caramel, peppermint or even orange flavor if you want to make different variations! I like to serve it with a little cocoa bar of toppings. Spray whipped cream clouds on a parchment sheet and freeze them to add to your hot cocoa cups.
