Ah, sweet summertime, you’re finally here! I love the warm weather, longer days and beautiful lush plants and flowers all around. Summer keeps us so busy outside and it’s a time when I really like to keep my decorating minimal and effortless. Today I am really excited to share 5 easy ways to decorate for summer.
5 easy ways to decorate for summer:
- Bring the outside in. Adding fresh flowers, branches or leafy greens will brighten any space and give it a fresh summer vibe. Use flowers from your own yard, branches from a tree, or even a bowl full of freshly harvested produce from the garden is perfect! Don’t have access to these items? Grab a bowl of fresh pears or oranges from the store and display in a bowl!
- Keep things bright. I love using light and bright accents in my home all summer because they offer such a light, breezy and effortless feel. Linen throw pillows, cotton blankets, grays, taupe and whites.
- Pick one accent color. I have found that in my neutral home, it’s always fun to choose one accent color through the seasons. During the summer, my accent is green! I love hanging botanical prints, using fresh or faux greens for decor, and even pulling out my little green vintage kitchen scale for display.
- Display everyday items that exude summertime. I love displaying straw hats, my kid’s rubber boots, umbrellas, and a little tray in my kitchen with supplies for a lemonade bar. This includes pretty paper straws, glass milk bottles, a vase with fresh mint from the garden and a little lemonade sign if you have one.
- Create a “come and stay a while” vibe. I have found that doing little things like leaving books open on the coffee table, or a cozy throw and pillow on the couch create a conducive environment for conversation and relaxation. When you have guests, you want them to feel welcome to stay and visit. Summer time means slowing down and your decor can reflect it!

Bread makes for a great decoration:
Wait… what did she say? You heard me! I love to bake and display bread! What creates a more inviting table than a big ol’ country loaf with a side of butter and honey waiting to be devoured. Nothing, I tell you!
