Staying in for Valentine’s to avoid crowds? We love staying home and celebrating with our kiddos! I had so much fun putting together this whimsical Valentine’s day dessert table, full of treats to welcome our little ones for a fun after-dinner gathering.
Color scheme
This year I was inspired by vibrant colors like red, magenta and different shades of pink. I really wanted to incorporate those colors in both the centerpiece and the food.
Charcuterie board
Charcuterie boards aren’t just for cheese and crackers! A dessert board is such a fun way to casually display tasty treats for a fun dessert table. I found a variety of goodies that matched my color scheme to add to the theme.
Add a special touch at your Valentine’s day dessert table
We love to sit at the table and each name one thing we love about each other. It’s a really fun bonding experience for our little family and of course gives everyone a boost of confidence.
A balanced table
I love adding items of different height to the table. Styling items in groupings of 3’s or 5’s really helps to create balance. Layering items like napkins and dishes creates visual interest. Sticking to neutral dinnerware allows you to incorporate pops of color with your napkins or centerpieces! I was thrilled to find these red goblets because of their beautiful detail and deep color.
Save money by thrifting
Always hit up the thrift store for centerpiece items! I was able to score these magenta vases for my flowers for less than a dollar each. The vases add such a great pop of color and matched my theme perfectly. It’s always nice when you can make a big impact without spending a lot of money to do it.

It’s the thought that counts
Sometimes we feel pressured to “go big or go home” when it comes to gift-giving. I have to say I have learned time and time again that it’s the thought that counts! Our kids love quality time together more than anything. Don’t ever let the world make you feel like you need to spend a lot of money to spoil someone special. Words of love and encouragement and time spent together are perfect ways to gift someone this Valentine’s Day!
