Today I’ll show you an easy and fun holiday activity, how to make personalized acrylic Christmas ornaments. These are SO cute and simple, anyone in your family can make one. You will just need a few supplies like these acrylic ornaments, these paint pens, a ribbon for the top of the ornament. I have created some fun printable sheets for you below, so you can trace shapes or lettering. If you’d rather free hand and create your own design, that’s fun too!

A few weeks ago I saw a few ideas for making DIY custom acrylic ornaments. A lot of people painted them and then used vinyl to add to the tops. I loved the idea of using paint markers to simply draw your own designs or trace Christmas images. I hope that these cute printable sheets give you some inspiration!
These would also maki fun coloring sheets if you wanted to use them for that as well!

I took this activity to a youth group Christmas party we had at our church. The girls had so much fun making these and each of them came up with such cute color combos and designs. I was thinking that this would make such a fun family night or larger family party activity for Christmas.

Inspiration for customized acrylic ornaments:
- Trace a new baby’s hand
- Have a child color their favorite Christmas memory
- Make an ornament for a grandparent, teacher, neighbor or friend
- Take ornaments to a youth group to decorate
- Drop supplies to a family with kids and give them the gift of an ornament-making night together
- Have your kids make an ornament for each age (adding something unique to the ornament that creates a memory for that specific year
- Make an ornament for a new marriage, 1st Christmas, or anniversary
- Make ornaments with your favorite Christmas movies on them
Use good paint markers that work on acrylic and wood.
If you want to ensure the ornaments won’t scratch after, you can spray them with a sealer like Krylon crystal clear.

Every year my family gathers to add an ornament to an “angel tree” we have for my brother, Doug, who is in Heaven. I always look forward to seeing what creative ornament everyone brings that helps us remember him. It makes the sting of the holiday without him a little easier. Well, maybe not, but it feels good to do something for him, and it always feels good to talk about our memories with him. My youngest son has a memory with my brother, and I thought it would be so fun for him to draw the memory on his acrylic ornament. These ornaments can really work for anything!
