I had no plans to decorate our music room for the holidays but when I found this 9′ Nobile Fir, inspiration struck! This year I lost two very close and special family members. I thought it would be really special to create an “angel room” that includes symbols of meaningful memories with them. Today I am excited to share with you our Neutral Mercury Glass and Gold Christmas tree. I hope you find some ideas and inspiration! I hope to inspire anyone who is going into a hard holiday “first” like we are.

Ornaments used on our Neutral Mercury Glass and Gold Christmas Tree
If you’ve been around for a while you know I have a love for cheery cherry red at Christmas! I love traditional colors for my living room and kitchen. I thought for our office it would be fun and uplifting to incorporate ivory, gold, mercury glass and a bit of sparkle. Here are the elements I used on our “Angel tree”.
- Oversized finial mercury glass ornaments
- Matte champagne glass bulbs
- Shiny gold bulbs that have a natural aging (they belonged to my grandma Hilvia!)
- Gold stars (you can find the 2 pack here)
- Gold frayed-edge velvet ribbon (Hobby Lobby in the fabric section)
- Mix of finial mercury glass ornaments (Hobby Lobby)
- Collected mercury glass ornaments from TJ maxx and Pottery barn (I’ll link mine here)
- Gold tree collar
Coordinating Gift Wrap
I love coordinating my wrapped gifts to my tree décor! Often times my ornament colors and inspiration actually first comes from the wrap. I am so in love with the combo of green and gold for this space. Here are a few of the gifts I wrapped!
That cozy evening glow
I have felt so uplifted when my tree is lit and the cozy warm glow fills our home. There is such a comfort that comes from a Christmas tree! Keeping this room neutral really compliments our map mural and it gives me such a peaceful feeling.
The symbolism behind our music room tree
As I mentioned, I wanted to create a room for my angels. My grandma and grandpa loved Christmastime. They always made it SO special for us growing up. It has been so special to incorporate some of their ornaments. I used to shop for Christmas ribbon with my grandma. This was such a fun tradition we shared each and every Christmas.
Our family also has a yearly tradition of camping together. Our favorite place to camp has a forest of trees that look just like this beautiful noble fir! We love to make a fire and enjoy time together late at night. A sparkling, beautiful starry sky over our heads.
This tree not only holds ornaments from my grandma, but is also symbolic of our family tradition. I love this little 2 pack of gold stars, I knew they would remind me of our camping skies!
That “first” Holiday
Many people who have an “angel tree” collect ornaments that are dedicated to a lost loved one.
I am excited to dedicate my own little music room to the memory of my angels. This first Holiday will be very hard for us, but I have found that doing simple things to keep my angels’ memory here has brought such comfort to my heart.
