Today I am excited to share our neutral and bright spring living room tour and the new rug that brought some warmth and color into this space!
After the holiday season when everything is tucked away and cleaned up, our homes can suddenly feel empty, bare, and lacking in cozy details! We get caught in that weird awkward stage of wanting soft accents and decorated spaces, and in the same moment, an instinctual desire to declutter and purge.

It took me the whole month of January and part of February to get my home deeply organized again (I’m looking at you, storage room!). I am finally now focusing on getting my living room put back together. In early January I wasn’t feeling inspired and after putting holiday decor away, everything just felt so blah.
Neutral and Bright Spring Living Room Tour and refresh
After debating a bit, I decided to sell our old rug on Facebook Marketplace and do a little spring refresh. The room sat for a couple of weeks before I had any ideas or felt any sense of direction! I blame gray skies for weeks on end.
After doing some searching, I discovered this gorgeous rug with little pops of color and amazing reviews for being really soft and cozy. I knew it would be fun to change things up and be able to play off of the blues and mochas in the rug for a fresh spring look. PS: If you get it, you can use the code HANDMADE for an extra discount!
Winter and Early Spring Styling
I added in some spring blooms, some candles in glass, some little faux plants and some neutral patterned pillows. Adding things back into this space made it feel cozy and inviting again after being empty. I really enjoy spaces that have a lived-in feel to them. Adding books, instruments, candles and throw blankets can help with this feeling!

Our new warm neutral rug
I was over the moon excited that this rug looks SO beautiful in our living room and it feels super soft on my feet. In fact, my kids have been playing on it non-stop since I put it down! I was really excited to add some art to our mantel that compliments the flecks of blue in the rug. You can get an extra discount on this by using the code HANDMADE! Hobby Lobby had faux spring blooms 50% off, so I also added a huge bouquet of faux snowball viburnum to the coffee table. I feel really inspired by adding some color this month, especially with all of the gray we have outside. It feels so refreshing and helps me look forward to springtime! I’ll be leaving this decor up through May.

During this refresh I also added some fun details to my desk. This little apothecary cabinet caught my eye, I love that it looks vintage! When I originally ordered it, I thought it would be perfect for seed storage out in the greenhouse. I ended up setting it on my desk the day it arrived, and instantly fell in love! I added thank you notes, paper clips, remotes for faux candles, stamps and other small items I use in my little workspace here by the bright window. Now I am thinking about sanding and staining my chair a darker brown…
I found these cute faux plants at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. I added them to my own vintage terra cotta pots and I really like how realistic they look now! Most of all, the pops of green are very life-giving to me.
