Mocha and Gold Inspired Christmas

Today I am thrilled to share a sneak peek into our living room and our mocha and gold inspired Christmas tree. A few months ago I found this stunning art print and was instantly captured by a sweet winter scene with kids in a snowball fight. I framed the print in a vintage frame I thrifted for $14. I normally love using traditional red and green at Christmastime, however this year I just felt so pulled to a neutral color scheme. I also really wanted to create a calm and warm atmosphere to surround our family with this holiday season. Switching things up has really helped my grief and diving into a new project has inspired a lot of creativity! Did you catch my mercury glass and gold tree from last year? That was another neutral favorite!

Tips for layering your Christmas tree decor:

Add a variety of textures for visual interest.
Use ribbon! You can loop, hang strips, twist or tie ribbon bows and add to your tree! I like to use patterned, striped, or textured ribbon on my tree. Here are a few of my other favorittes:

Tuck large ornaments back toward the tree. I noticed my giant brown ornaments looked like whopper candies on my tree until I tucked them back in a bit!
Use a variety of different sized ornaments on your tree.
Picks or branches helps so much with layering and adding an extra special touch and texture.
