In this post I am sharing a few basic tips for making your home welcoming and cozy (on a dime) for the season!
There are many many things that I love about the season of Autumn, but this year in particular I have felt a real desire to create a welcoming space that feels like a safe haven away from the world. Let me share a few tips with you on how to make your home cozy for fall!
I love when my kids get home and smell something baking (like these baked apples!), or see that there is a soft blanket set on the couch for them to snuggle up in. It may sound silly or really simple, but little things like these make a house feel like a home.
Decorating for fall DOES NOT have to be stressful or expensive. It doesn’t even have to cost a dime! There are many tips and tricks for dressing your home up a bit throughout the seasons and today I really want to share a few ideas with you!
Tips for how to make your home cozy for fall:
- Bring the outdoors in. You can trim a few branches from the yard and place them in a glass vase with a bit of water. Maybe even gather a bowl full of acorns or pine cones to set by it. Instant fall charm!
- Find some textured throw blankets and fold them in a pile to set in your living room or by the fireplace.
- Gather a pile of logs, or firewood and place in a tin or basket. Even if you don’t have a fireplace or don’t need real wood, the texture it adds is really beautiful and cozy!
- I love to display blanket scarves on my couch, table, hanging in my mudroom or set in baskets or on a bench by the door. Blanket scarves have so many uses and even work for tablecloths!
- Make a dollar store wreath. If you missed mine, you can catch the tutorial here on my Instagram highlight!
- Switch out pillow covers instead of buying new pillows. I love using the same down filled pillows and switching out covers to match the season. Throw pillows are such a fun way to add a pop of color to a room!
