Welcome to the Handmade Farmhouse holiday home tour! This is our first Christmas in the home we built ourselves. It’s an exciting time for our family and we are thrilled to share quality time together this season. Come along and see how we decorated on a budget and added something special around every corner.
Wood, white and evergreen
I only had a small handful of ornaments and decor from the small cottage we came from, therefore I let this year’s decor slowly and naturally unfold on it’s own. After a few days, I started to notice a common theme of wood, white, and evergreen.
I was thrilled to find this cedar-eucalyptus garland at Hobby Lobby. It came with foam red berries which I trimmed off for a more realistic look. A bundle of firewood added texture and warmth to our entry.
Budget-friendly decor
I created a simple DIY hanging decoration which could also double as an advent calendar. For this piece I used some inexpensive cedar sprigs layered on my hat rack. I then wrapped some empty food boxes from my pantry with paper and white wrap and then hung them with twine.
Bringing in textured elements
Layered white candles, a cedar garland, and cozy textured blankets at arm’s length made this space festive and inviting.
I’m loving our flocked King of Christmas tree. Flocked Christmas trees hardly need any décor in my opinion, they are so beautiful as-is! Don’t twinkling lights on a tree add such a cozy feeling?
It’s easy to add a touch of the season to your wash rooms by putting some fresh eucalyptus and cedar on the counters.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a little look into our home this season. I am always very drawn to neutrals. December brings a hustle and bustle that can be hard to juggle, so I have enjoyed having these calming colors and elements all around.
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I hope you’ve enjoyed adding seasonal decor to your home in whatever form is most special to you!
