I can hardly believe how fast this year is flying by… It’s Halloween! I absolutely love this time of year and the traditions it brings. Caramel apples in October are a must!
This year was the first year that I really made our home festive for Halloween. This kids loved it!
The little bats were my favorite. They can be found here.
Another really fun way we decorated for Halloween was by creating a ten dollar tablescape challenge. This is a challenge I give myself during the holidays to encourage creativity by using what I already have at home so I spend $10 or less to put together a festive table.
My friends over on instagram also participated in this challenge using the hashtage #tendollartablescape. It was so fun to see everyone’s creative inspiration! If you’d like to check it out, be sure to search the hashtag.
To create this budget tablescape, I started with brown wrapping paper as a runner. Then I cut black gauze from the dollar store to create 6 place setting chargers. It added a spooky texture and cost me $1 to make all six. I used my glass plates and goblets that I have owned for several years (also from the dollar store and I love them because they go with any holiday!).
Delicious homemade macarons with “Jack the pumpkin king” faces really added a whimsical touch. I filled in empty spaces with inexpensive spell candles, and added height using some branches from my yard which I spray painted to give a “spider leg” vibe.
The goblets were filled with pomegranate punch as a play on vampire blood. I also found a free printable menu on pinterest. I gathered baby boo pumpkins from our garden and used some old quilt batting to give the appearance of spider webs. This was a simple and inexpensive table that my kids adored and we sure enjoyed it over Halloween. I can’t wait to create another budget tablescape for Thanksgiving!
