This post is sponsored by Wayfair. Today I am so excited to reveal our farmhouse mudroom refresh. Our mudroom is one of the hardest working areas in our home, and was in need of some attention! I was thrilled when I found that I could combine both style and function to complete this space.
Making most of the space you have
After living in our home for 2 years, I have a much better idea of how we use each space. Our mudroom probably sees the most action in a day (with the exception of the kitchen) because we are all in and out and dropping shoes, coats, backpacks, umbrellas, soccer balls, grocery bags… you name it! We are lucky to have a small closet right here in the mudroom that’s a perfect place to house said items. However, we were in need of a bit more organization and a touch of style.
Helpful mudroom organization essentials:
- A bench, or place to sit for putting on shoes.
- A storage shelf, closet, or drawer for shoes to be put away.
- Hooks for backpacks, coats, bags or hats.
- Storage spots for gloves or out of season items that are only needed occasionally.
- Organization bins or drawers (especially when you have little ones!)
Before and After:
Let me show you a few pictures of what the mudroom looked like before we gave it this little refresh. A good before and after is always fun to see, right?
We have needed a bench for putting on shoes, so I knew even if I was to swap that out, having a place to sit would still be a priority. The walls felt pretty empty to me but since this is a work room I didn’t really want to hang frames. I went on a hunt for the perfect piece to fill this space that would give us function for our’s and the kids’ needs, as well as add a bit of charm to a bland space.
The perfect hall tree
After looking for a few weeks, I found this absolutely stunning hall tree sold on Wayfair. I was so drawn to the look of this piece, and when I checked to see if it would fit in this space, I was head over heels to find it was a perfect match! Here is a list of what I wanted in a hall tree:
- A place to sit for putting on shoes
- A place to hang coats and hats
- A drawer or place for bins to keep things organized
- Something to help fill this large wall and add character and style
This hall tree definitely crossed all items off of my wish list! Want to know the very best part? The Collier hall tree ships in two boxes because it comes nearly fully assembled! My husband was thrilled because it took us very little time to put it together. We carried it into the house in two pieces (the base bench and the back piece with the shelf) and assembly was so simple.
Quality
I wanted to make sure I found a piece that would be able to stand up against hard daily use with our kids. We have loved using the drawers to keep small items like hats and gloves organized for each of them! The drawers are large and pull out easily, making it so easy to tuck away small items so they’re out of sight and this room stays clean.
I love the wood tone and the solid quality of this piece. It truly brought our mudroom to life and it is so beautiful in person!

Peel and stick wall treatment
I was thrilled to find this beautiful patterned peel and stick wallpaper to add a bit of character to the walls in the mudroom. This print is called “gray breezy” and I’ve linked it for you below.
Adding peel-and-stick wallpaper was a really fun way to add personality to the space without the long term commitment that regular wallpaper has. I love the pattern in this mudroom, especially against the wood tone of the hall tree.
