Today I am sharing lots of easy ideas for fall décor, including projects that will make your home inviting for fall that are inexpensive or even free! Come along and stay a while. I hope you feel inspired!
Usually as the end of August approaches and my kids return to school, my mind starts to drift and think about autumn time. I love the feeling of refuge that our homes can provide during the months of September and October. For us, this is the beginning of a season of rest from outdoor chores and yard maintenance. There is a feeling that our home calls us inside to get cozy and spend quality moments together.
Today I really wanted to put together a post with a collection of images from our home from Autumn past. Here you will find lots of ideas and hopefully inspiration for simple ways that you can transform your home to reflect the season.
The best part of all? These ideas are simple and inexpensive or even free. I hope you enjoy them and feel excited to create a space in your home to welcome those you love to gather.
One really fun thing I made last autumn was this pretty and festive wreath. It cost me $18, much less than the wreaths I was admiring in the stores that were nearly quadruple that!

Easy ideas for fall decor:
- Gather colorful leaves from outside.
- Make a wreath from dollar store stems and a thrifted grapevine wreath backer. Hobby Lobby usually has inexpensive ones too.
- Make an apple cider or pumpkin spice cocoa station in your kitchen. I love to use apothecary jars filled with colorful straws and everything you need for a warm cuppa. I like to fill some jars with homemade caramels too, my kids LOVE this tradition! It’s also great for guests to enjoy.
- Grow a few pumpkins (we especially love the baby boo’s for décor!) If you cannot grow your own, try to purchase from a local gardener before going to the store to save money. Or get cute faux ones like these!
- Clip dock weed from fields or canal banks. This burgundy “weed” makes one of the most beautiful centerpieces for fall!
- Place acorns or pine cones in a bowl with a fall décor book. I love using as many natural elements as I can during this time of year!
- Print and display some of these fun and festive FREE FALL PRINTABLE DECOR. I like to grab a wood clip board from the dollar store or a cheap frame and display these in my kitchen. (Click and print on this post!)
Elements and textures that make your home cozy during fall:
- Candles (I ALWAYS use these flameless candles that flicker. They’re safe and so warm and cozy looking. Perfect anywhere in your home and you don’t have to worry.
- Wicker baskets
- Knitted throw blankets
- Hurricane glass for candles to sit in (glass is a beautiful texture!)
- Dried branches or foraged colorful leaves
- Drape or hang blanket scarves for a beautiful pop of color
- Wood crates with fall apples or pears
