This week I had so much fun putting together this DIY pear and pumpkin arrangement for our dining table. When I asked over on Instagram whether you guys wanted to see a real or faux fall arrangement, it was a nearly 50/50 poll response! Instead of doing one or the other, I thought it would be really fun to combine a little real, a little faux, and a few unexpected elements too!
DIY Pear and Pumpkin Arrangement elements:
Adding fresh pears and Baby Boo pumpkins from our garden gave this arrangement such a fun pop of Autumn color as well as beautiful and unique textures. I also had an idea to add some cinnamon sticks for color! The cinnamon also adds such a yummy scent to the arrangement, and beautiful texture, too!
Tips for creating a Fall Arrangment:
- Decide on a color pallete. I always think keeping things simple is best! You can decide on colors that will compliment each other. Sometimes that means complimentary colors, sometimes that means combining shades of one color. For this Autumn arrangement I wanted to incorporate burgundy, white, shades of pale green, and tans/browns with lots of texture.
- Don’t be afraid to mix real and faux! Doing so can save money as faux flowers can get expensive. I always try to get my faux stems when they’re 50% off at the craft store.
- Add in elements you foraged yourself like branches from your yard or leaf stems from a tree. Pinecones, cat tails, fruit or other elements always add great texture and visual interest!
- Incorporate something vintage like an old wood or zinc bucket or unique glass or amber vase.

This exact tablecloth was found at Hobby Lobby.
Arrangement tip:
Use skewers to attach pears, pumpkins and cinnamon sticks to easily add them at different heights in your arrangement. I used hot glue to attach my cinnamon sticks.
