A few weeks ago I saw some darling lanterns online for a whopping $129 each! I knew I could never pay such a steep price so I put my creativity to work and these DIY inexpensive fairy light lanterns were born. I am pretty excited to report they cost me about $21 each to make, but look just like the first one I wanted. Our Fall porch is instantly more cozy and inviting because of them!

Our hard work in the garden paid off this year and we harvested a wonderful bounty of pastel pumpkins! These lanterns just totally compliment them and create such a whimsical Fall porch for our home. I absolutely LOVE being out here in the evenings.

DIY Inexpensive Fairy Light Lanterns tutorial
I was thrilled to find this lantern in 3 different sizes. Really amazing quality and so inexpensive! I have 3 of the medium size but I am kind of wishing I had one small, medium and large. You will also need a pack of fairy lights. I ordered these on sale last week, but I realized it would be so much easier to have this pack of 4 (20′ long and 60 lights each!) so you would only need to use one strand per lantern AND they have a remote for easy turn on and shut off.
I like to wrap my lights around something like this rolling pin to kind of shape the wire. Use electrical tape to tape the switch and wire so its hanging from the top of the inside. In the dark, these will glow and look SO magical and whimsical! Perfect for indoor or outdoor, great for Summer, Fall and Winter (I would probably keep them inside once it gets really cold). I made a reel tutorial on Instagram here.
It’s hard to capture on camera, but just look at that cozy glow!

In case you missed it on the ‘gram, I wanted to show you our garden pumpkin harvest this year! We are so excited about them. Can you believe this all came from 6 seeds? We planted two Jarrahdale, 2 white Lumina, and 2 porcelain pinks from Burpee seeds. I think some of my white ones cross-pollinated with my yellow squash and thats why we ended up with some yellow and pastel orange!
