DIY Fall Pressed Leaf Lantern supply list:
- Glass jar or vase
- Modge Lodge (Matte)
- Foam brush or paint brush
- Pressed leaves and fall flowers
- Faux flickering candle for jars
- Jute twine if you’d like to make a lantern out of the jar
How to make a DIY Fall Pressed Leaf Lantern:
- Make sure your jar or vase is clean and free of dust. (Mine are from Hobby Lobby)
- Brush Matte Modge Lodge onto jar and press leaves or flowers into it. I like to brush both sides of my leaves with the glue to help soften them and help them stay flat.
- Continue to cover one section at a time with glue and add the leaves and flowers.
- Allow glue to fully dry (it will turn clear again but leave a slight matte texture)
- Add your favorite flickering faux candle. Here are my two top choices!
Ways to use DIY Fall Pressed Leaf Lantern
- Use as a Thanksgiving table centerpiece (make 3 for longer tables!)
- Gift to a friend for a cozy fall gift.
- Place on a round wood board and add small items like baby boo pumpkins to create a kitchen vignette.
- Make small jars for children to place on their night tables for seasonal cozy decor.
- Use on your front porch paired with mums and pumpkins. So beautiful!
FAQ about DIY Fall Pressed Leaf Lanterns:
Ideally you would fully press and dry your leaves or flowers. Otherwise they will lose color. However, if they aren’t pressed dry, they will be too hard not to break when you glue them to the jar.
Yes! Faux would be ideal for a long lasting jar. It would be easier to store and would keep its color! You will need to remove the plastic stems or anything that makes the faux leaves too bulky. Press the fax leaves carefully with an iron if possible.
