Sharing our cozy neutral Christmas bedroom and tips for transforming a bedroom space in your home to reflect the magic and warmth of the holiday season.
A couple of years ago we started setting up a Christmas tree in our bedroom. It doesn’t matter if the tree is decked out in ribbons and ornaments or simply twinkly with warm white lights only; adding a tree to our bedroom seems to always invite all the warmth and coziness of the holiday season.
This year I swapped out my regular King of Christmas tree for this small tree with cluster lights. I found this tree at Hobby Lobby and have really loved it! It was inexpensive and I like the change. These smaller cluster or “macro” lights add a really cozy twinkle to the tree.
Having a Christmas tree with a dimmer switch is definitely my favorite. HERE are some trees with that option and a remote with several light settings!
I knew I wanted to put this tree on my side of the room in front of this large mirror. Mirrors are amazing to make a space look larger or in this case, double the amount of twinkly lights on the tree! I decided to use my neutral bronze and mocha decor from last year’s living room tree. If you missed it, you have to check out this post! This was definitely one of my favorite Christmas looks.

Small details in our cozy neutral Christmas bedroom
I love incorporating these high quality faux paper whites. They are so pretty and have lasted year after year. I like adding them to baskets, vases or pots. The bulb is very realistic as well, so you can even add them to stones in a glass vessel. I will link them here!
In the Fall I purchased this pretty wood chess/checkers set. It’s so gorgeous and was fun to use on the coffee table in Autumn season once we started to spend more time inside.
I added it to our bedroom for winter because it ties in so beautifully with the bronze and mocha ornaments on the tree. I love the pattern it adds, but it also doubles as functional decor because we love playing checkers! Still working on the chess part ha.
These glass keepsake boxes are stunning. In the past I have used them on my coffee table, but this year I found joy in stacking them on my night table for jewelry, ornaments and trinkets. They come in two sizes, I will link them here!
I added a pretty mirror (it looks vintage but it’s not!) with some winter art and faux flickering candles in glass jars. Glass is such a fun and pretty texture to add to winter decor.
Our bedding is mismatched at the moment, but cozy, nonetheless. This quilt is a favorite, I like how the pattern ties in with our Christmas tree. Right now our room does not have anything fancy when it comes to bedding. It is simply a collection of cozy quilts we use all throughout the year.
Tips for decorating a bedroom Christmas tree
- Find a combination of tree ornaments/ribbon/textured pieces that do not overwhelm you. You want to keep your bedroom tree cozy but simple. Not so overdone that it adds a feeling of clutter to the space.
- Start with larger ornaments and work your way to the small stuff. Then fill in with ribbons if you have some empty spaces or want to add additional texture or pattern.
- Be thoughtful when yo choose what lights to use, or watch for a tree that offers a dimmer switch option. This makes a huge difference in the late evenings when you want something relaxing and cozy, not overly bright.
I love the warmth a tree can add to any room, but there is really something comforting and welcoming when you add it to your bedroom space. I find myself wanting to keep our room more organized and tidy so I can walk in at the end of the day and feel like it is truly a place to rest and feel comforted.
