Today I am thrilled to be joining Wayfair to share ideas for a clever closet makeover. I always crave getting organized in the new year, and closets are the perfect place to start!
Today I wanted to share some fun ways that you can create a closet makeover in your home and make the most of the space you have. I have found some really stylish and affordable pieces that will make getting organized lots of fun!
5 quick tips for organizing a closet
- Go through all your socks and match them. Dispose of old socks with holes or socks that don’t have a match.
- Donate clothing that you haven’t worn in one year. If you keep pushing it to the back of the closet, time to say bye bye!
- Organize your clothing by color or style. I personally organize by color! Grouping clothing by style or fit works great too.
- Try using storage totes filled with out of season clothing that can be stored up high.
- Consider a closet system to maximize the use of your space.
Foldable fabric bins
I love using foldable fabric bins to organize socks, underwear, swimsuits, scarves, undershirts, and pj’s. They work great in my kid’s closets!
Laundry baskets in closets
Having laundry baskets readily accessible inside of closets helps keep dirty clothes and wet towels off the floor. This has been a must with my kids! I love these options below for beautiful, functional and stylish baskets!
Adding a shoe rack
Have you ever considered how nice it would be to have a rack to organize your shoes? It really helps with keeping shoes from piling up on the floor.
This would be great for a mudroom closet as well!
Storage totes for seasonal clothing
If you are limited on hanging space in your closet, try tucking out-of-season clothing like sweaters and jeans or shorts and T’s away in clear plastic totes. Totes can be easily stored on high shelves, and rotated through the seasons. This is a great way to create a wardrobe that won’t overwhelm you or feel cluttered in a small closet.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these tips today and checking out my favorite picks for a clever closet makeover!
