Isn’t one of the most exciting things about a childhood Christmas setting out milk and cookies for Santa? I couldn’t wait to set up a whimsical Christmas table that brought that very excitement to life! Adding blush and blues was so unexpected, but every little detail of this table setting gives me butterflies like a child on Christmas eve!
Creating a holiday tablescape
Creating a holiday tablescape can be so fun. Here are a few tips I have for making it easier and cost-effective.
- Decide on a theme/ color scheme before you go shopping. This will help you narrow down your ideas AND save you time from getting distracted in the store.
- Shop you home FIRST. I always like to look through storage or around the house to see what I can use that I already have! This can save so much money and encourage creativity.
- Don’t worry about rules. Yes, there are some great rules to follow in design such as balance and cohesion. However, some of the funnest tables I have ever put together were created on a dime and with unexpected elements! *(Check out other tablescapes HERE)
A childlike wonder
As you already know (from seeing my Christmas kitchen), the theme I chose for Christmas this year is “A childlike wonder”. I have truly had so much fun creating whimsical vignettes around our home, the kind that make you bend down to look closely. My kids have been saying “Mom, our home feels magical!”
I had so much fun incorporating pinks, blues, cheery Christmas reds, cedar and woods into this table. The little gingerbread men and shiny ornaments paired so well. Filling apothecary jars with treats, and snowflake marshmallows on the cocoa added a touch of whimsy, like an old fashioned candy shoppe.

What kind of cookies do you leave out for Santa? Our favorite is our soft gingerbread recipe, you can find it here!
I’ve loved showing you my Christmas table and I hope that you feel inspired to create something fun and festive in your own home. Today I am thrilled to be sharing a group of very talented bloggers and their own holiday tables! Grab a cuppa and enjoy this fun tour!
