Using inspiration from my childhood, I’ve created a little Christmas kitchen tour to share. I hope to transport you to that whimsical, wonderful time of twinkling lights, cocoa with extra whipping cream and the thrill that Santa Claus is coming to town.
When I was a little girl, we would always drive up to my grandparent’s home for Christmas Eve. Grandma would cook a delicious turkey with all the “fixin’s” and serve a variety of pies for dessert. After, we would put on a family talent show. All our family would prepare something, like a poem or musical number. I remember feeling so nervous for that talent show.
Later, with full bellies, we would sit in the “special room” around the beautiful Christmas tree. Grandma’s tree was always adorned in tinsel and glass ornaments that were beautiful, unique shapes. I loved to examine their intricate detail.
I remember pulling out of Grandma and Grandpa’s driveway at the end of the evening, and always watching for the little lit up Santa statue on the porch. It didn’t matter how bad a blizzard it was outside, that glowing Santa was always standing (he may or may not have been strapped down with bailing wire, ha!). The whole drive home my siblings and I excitedly imagined what the next morning would bring, Santa was on his way.
Those memories and feelings will never leave my mind or heart!
A childlike wonder
This Christmas I am blessed to have a 10, 7 and 3-year-old who are all very filled with the magic of the season. Everything is exciting. Everything is whimsical. Thus, my inspiration for this year’s decor theme: “A childlike wonder”.
This year I really wanted to create scenes all throughout our home that feel like childhood. Little vignettes that invite you to look closely at the details, like a child looks into a shaken snow globe.

Having a white kitchen allows me to really change the look of the space throughout the seasons. I loved incorporating cheery Christmas reds and a fun little cocoa station.
I hope this Christmas kitchen tour inspired a feeling of joy and excitement for the holidays! You do not have to spend a lot of money or have over-the-top decor for the holidays to feel really special. Find meaning for what you bring into your home, so that each time you walk through the door your are filled with joy.

Could you PLEASE PLEASE share where you got the Santa Claus tall drink containers. My son who serves in the army and has been to war and served since 2004 will get to be home with us and his wife and three children for the first time in many years and we would like everything to be as your childlike with a vintage feel. I would appreciate it so much. We want his family to have many memories as we want many memories. Thank you very much from Yukon, Oklahoma. He and his family will be headed back right after Christmas as he is full time career military after graduating college at the Citadel in South Carolina in . Thank you for your help
